my story

I'm Utku Yazıcı, and my photography adventure, which I started with a simple analog camera and film on an October day in Beyoğlu, turned into a project and a brand over time.

When I first came to Istanbul, after observing the surroundings, I wanted to create a project that combines people and space, inspired by the streets of Beyoğlu, where I lived for a few months in the past. This was the first step of my journey.

I grew by obtaining a lot of experience in my project, which I name "zenoportraits," from model selection to finance the project, how to explore a place and how to use it, time management to planning, and photography in analog style. I widened my perspective and ideas as I shot.

II became even more passionate. I have all kinds of unique art projects and brand collaborations that I want to realize. I want to reach my dream point in photography by creating opportunities step by step.

HOW DID I BEGIN FROM SCRATCH?

Since October 2021, I've been shooting at various Beyolu locations on a regular basis. After that, I made a collection on opensea and put the market to sell the photographs I took.

October 2021 /TAŞKIŞLA

From my first shot to my last shot, I gained new abilities with every shot. My skills such as the management and planning of the shoot, communication with models and assistants, and working together and in harmony with the team have improved. I tried to do all this with a minimum budget because I was also a student. Starting my project from 0, I have reached approximately 500 art-loving followers as of now.

I learned about Beyoğlu and its surroundings by visiting and studying the places I was going to shoot, and by discovering new places.

In the realization of a shoot, especially if it is a street shot, you have to consider every parameter from the weather to the direction of the sun according to the hours, from the availability of the model and assistants to the objects to be used in the shoot, from the choice of hair, make-up, and combination to the density of people in the place.

You may also encounter different problems during shooting. With the help of such situations, I developed skills such as crisis management and project planning during my shoot.

MEŞRUTİYET

Model:Bilge Enisa Tuncay

Meşrutiyet Street, one of the oldest and most historical streets of Beyoğlu, is like the mysterious backyard of Istiklal Street.

In this special shoot, with my model Bilge, we created portraits that reflect the spirit of the place on the route from Meşrutiyet to Şişhane square.

TAŞKIŞLA

Model:Helin Çiftçi

Taşkışla is perhaps the most important of the rare works the empire has transferred to the present day. The unique middle garden of the most beautiful campus of my school, which was once used as a military headquarters and now as an education and arts center, gives people a different pleasure both day and night.

In this collection, I created a beautiful work with my model Helin, with poses like a fashion magazine shoot on the terrace floor. We tried to blend the geometry of shadows, people, and structures in the shot, where we mainly preferred full-figure portraits.

Model:Aylin Karamehmet

On the slope descending from Galata to Karaköy, Salt Galata makes itself felt among the magnificent buildings of Bankalar Street. This building, which was the old Ottoman Bank, is used for library and exhibition purposes today.

My model Aylin, who suits the white interior of the place very well with her black combination and special make-up, depicts Catwoman, one of the characters in Batman movies, in this shot.

.In this shot, where we reflect on different expressions and emotions, we depicted the mystery of Catwoman's inner world and the uncertainty of her emotions in black.

The space, on the other hand, has adopted white tones of photography as a tool to solve this mystery. Thus, we strengthened the composition by using the contrast of colors.

Model:Güneş Dağ

Güneş added a character to the subway with its unique expressions and style. Inspired by the solar eclipse in the first photo, we added a commentary to the shoot.

In addition to this, we evaluated the advantages of the place and took photos.

We made use of rhythms and made the composition dynamic.

The most colorful part of Underground Istanbul is undoubtedly the M6 Metro Line and its colorful design. You can find every color in these lively corridors.

By choosing the combination of my model in black tones arising from the mixture of paint colors, it was my goal to make the space and the model both sufficiently separate and sufficiently harmonious.

the chronıcles of narnıa

Model:Başak Atmaca

This shoot we did with Başak, inspired by the book and movie series called The Chronicles of Narnia, is one of my favorite shots. We have almost imprisoned time by keeping for you the moments when it is difficult to catch your wife again.

Başak depicts the "Witch" character from the Chronicles of Narnia. Every photo has its own story.

I made an nft collection of 8 pieces and put it up for sale on my opensea account. You can examine it in detail there.

I entered the contest on the @analoggangs page on Instagram with the photo on the right.

Among the various photos, the most liked photo by the people won the competition, and the page shared this photo on its own account as a reward.

We created our own Narnia universe by using the unique presentation of the ITU Ayazaga Campus in the snow. We prepared the make-up and combination special for this theme with great effort. (My model Başak is very talented in this regard.) Unique portraits emerged.
